Tzankov kamak, Vacha and Krichim dams on Vacha River
Tzankov kamak dam, situated near the town of Devin, is still in a process of construction. It is a concrete arch dam with double curvature and height above lowest foundation 130,50 m. Its length of crest is 468 m, volume content – 465 000 m3 and cross capacity of reservoir 110 900 000 m3 .The dam is with central spillway with gates with maximum spillway capacity of 1 450 m 3/sec. It is the second dam of the Vacha Cascade.
The owner is National Electric Company and the main purpose of the dam is for power generation and the installed power capacity is 85 MW. The dam is designed by Energoprojekt Ltd. and Verbundplan GmbH, constructed by Alpine Mayreder Bau GmbH and manufactured by VA TECH Hydro.
Vacha dam is the next step of the cascade. It is 145 m high concrete dam, the tallest dam in the country. It impounds 226.106 m3 of water that provides 160 MW of capacity.
Krichim dam, the last of the cascade, is 105 m high concrete dam with 80 MW power plant.
